no_phoneA teenage school girl has been reportedly sentenced to 90 lashes and a two-month detention in Saudi Arabia. All for bringing a mobile phone to school.

13 year old student's punishment

whipped_punishmentAccording to the Saudi newspaper Al-Watan, the girl, age 13, was sentenced for flogging in front of her classmates following an assault on the school principal. She was found to be hiding a mobile phone and that breaks strict Saudi regulations that ban the use of camera phones in schools.

The punishment is said to be harsher than that dished out to some robbers and looters. Whipping is a common punishment (picture shown is for illustration purpose) in Saudi Arabia.
